SEO Marketing - How to Sell More Books and Gain Higher Rankings in Google

Writing a great book isn't enough to make you a successful author. You need books sales.

In fact, you need many book sales. You need top sell thousands of copies of your book.

But how do you do that? How can you ensure you achieve maximum sales?

Well, to be honest, there's nothing in the whole world that can actually "ensure" you have high sales. But there is something that can help and that can go a long way.

What is it?

SEO marketing.

To achieve high book sales, you have to make sure that everyone knows your book is there. And the easiest and most effective way is by using SEO marketing.

SEO, as you probably already know by now, stands for Search Engine Optimization. With marketing, this means that all your online promotional material is optimized for the search engines.

Put simply, you need to research and find out what words and phrases people are searching for who are looking for a book like yours.

For instance, if you've written a book about seaweed, people searching online may be looking for seaweed recipes, medicinal uses for seaweed, or which vitamins are in seaweed.

If this is so, then you need to use these key words and phrases in all your online marketing material.

The biggest search engine online is Google. We know this because people no longer say they're going to look something up, they say they're going to "Google" it. And that's exactly what they do. They go online to Google and start searching.

Google has a free research tool you can use to fin out which words and phrases people are typing into the Google search box the most. But using the most popular key words and key phrases doesn't necessarily mean that your book will be found through Googling.

This is because most people won't bother searching past the first or second page of Google search results. So you need to make sure your book is discoverable quickly through Google.

How do you get a top ten search result on Google?

Search for 'long tail' key words and phrases. This means find words and phrases that are searched less than 5,000 times a month. Or you can even look at less than 1,000 searches a month.

Why look for low volume search results?

Because it's better to show up on the first page for a low volume key work or phrase then on the 1,000th page of a highly searched word or phrase. No one is going to view the search results on the 1,000th page.

But the long-tail key word will ensure that up to 5,000 people a month see your link on the first page of the search results.

You can improve your Google placement even more by looking at the keywords and phrases your competitors are using and matching them too (if they're appropriate).

The key words and key phrases need to be in areas of your sales page to help make sure you achieve maximum results. Place them in the meta tags of your HTML code, your webpage title, your headings, your sub-headings and your content.

But don't overdo it and make your pages look 'key word stuffed.'

Instead, sprinkle them liberally throughout your writing.
